Any Asians here? I want to ask a question about Asians and skin color.

@MontereyJack,
I see dead people (white and bluish) and albinos, who are fairly pink, if you ask me. I had a friend whom o/d'ed on Niacin and another who drank a half- gallon of carrot juice. They went temporarily orange.

I only care about color of skin when I try to photograph or draw someone and then reproduce the image; othwerwise, who cares?!

Yes, I was discussing race and anthropology else where.

I want to ask an ASIAN person if it's offensive to call them orange-skinned, becuase that's how I describe them.

Some people say beige-should I just say that then?

I would say we are yellowish tanish really

@Proxima,
I've looked around elsewhere-I have seen Asians describing their skin tone as beige.

I have seen some other sites with Asian women calling their skin beige, and Asian make-up and cosmetic sites in which they call their skin tones beige.

So I can describe these people as having beige skin:

And this link:

A Chinese girl is describing her skin and her sister's as beige skin.

they are beige, NOT ORANGE.

@JGoldman10,
Try makeup and cosmetics sites - look for "foundation" colors; "beige" is too vague:

@JGoldman10,
Every house of cosmetics has its own palette and names for shades. Search for foundation (cosmetics) colors, then search images. This is another palette:

@Proxima,
Hi-what you're describing is cream or beige.

@JGoldman10,
Slowly but surely you're beginning to grasp that color names and shades vary by palette; the last one I posted has about a dozen "cream or beige" shades.

@cicerone imposter,
Hello there, what's wrong with beige or yellow/cream? I've looked at Asian cosmetic sites-I have seen Asianss use the words beige and yellow/cream.

You said it as a joke, but you may have hit on the only solution that will work with our friend Goldman! This is a link to the best makeup line for TV / theater / cinema, used worldwide: Kryolan theatrical makeup from Berlin. They do use shade numbers instead of names and cover every possibility:

Hey Goldman - colors like "orange" and "yellow" are fine if you want to paint a wall, but if you're referring to human skin the classifications change. From now on, just refer to the worldwide standard foundation palette of Kryolan Professional Makeup, and ask people to identify their shade number.

@High Seas,
What's even "funnier" is the fact that my skin color changes depending on how much sun I get. I remember when I returned from an African safari, and I saw grandma sitting in our family room. I said "hello grandma," and she asked "who are you?" She didn't recognize me, because I was so dark. On my recent cruise in the Caribbean, my skin color was much darker when I returned. Goldman will have a difficult, if not impossible, task trying to tie down my skin color.

@cicerone imposter,
I saw your pic-it's an orangey or cinnamony brown- a beige. And you're wearing a baseball cap.

@cicerone imposter,
So click on the Kryolan link I posted and take-a-number!

Goldman clearly doesn't know much about it but even the smaller TV studios employ dozens of people who slather Kryolan foundations on dozens of people every day - otherwise most of us go in front of cameras with gigantic lights blinding us and look like something that washed in with the high tide Smile

And this is the last time you do this if you want to stay out of trouble in future! Click on the link http://www.kryolan.com/en/index.php?cid=104&mnu=32&id=142&pageid=1 and say, are you a D4 with D5 undertones, or D3 with D7 undertones - or whatever. Pictures don't reproduce color accurately.

@High Seas,
What I was trying to tell Goldman is that trying to tie down skin color is a lost cause before he even starts. I can turn from an olive-tan to black depending on season and how much sun I get. I'm sure that's true with most Asians.

@cicerone imposter,
Everybody changes color if he stays in the sun too long, suffers massive loss of blood, and so on. But - did I pick the right shades (D 3,4,5,7) for you?!
