In the aftermath of a failed Valentine's day...
Do you remember that boy/girl that broke your heart even though you treated him/her like a prince/princess?
Surely there are lots of these stories around. Yours?
@Francis,
Yup, that's pretty much the story of my life. Bad boys win. Oh well.
@Francis,
Francis wrote:Sorry, friend...
I've probably done the same to a few girls, so I guess it all evens out.
@rosborne979,
Time doesn't always give such wisdom..
@Francis,
I think I've had this experience. I've certainly had my heart broken by someone I felt I treated well. The truth is that I can't own that other person's experience with me. It's quite possible that I did not treat them well.
I think that many nice guys feel that women can only respond positively to their attention. What may be attention to some may be worship to others. I don't think many women desire worship. Worship, in my opinion, is another form of objectification. I've had girlfriends that put me on a pedestal, and I did not enjoy it.

I can only speak for myself, but I've never dropped one guy for a "bad boy"
I've dropped ones who didn't treat me well, for those that treated me better.
Just so we're clear, I'm defining not treating me well as doing things like; cheating on me, acting like they owned me (I think that falls under worshipping me sometimes), threatening me, yelling at me, acting like I was not as intelligent as I am (i.e. not as smart as them)
If a woman truly left a guy (or visa versa, this is equal opportunity) who was treating them well, for someone who treats them like crap, I would have to wonder why that's all they think they deserve.
I think people who accept this kind of treatment, and truly don't want it (hey, if you're a true machochist, it would be great) they believe they are not worthy as a person of anything better.
I recently saw Twilight and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Edward Cullen is the ultimate bad boy with phenomenal powers. Robert Pattinson looks like the ultimate bad boy. He has the Elvis look about him and girls love him to suck their blood.
@talk72000,
That's what this thread needed talk72000, a touch of realism.
@failures art,
Appreciated your input, though I'm talking about normal people, with normal love stories or lack thereof..
@chai2,
Interesting comments, Chai, especially your last line..

Francis, my dear ...
I sincerely hope you don't have a personal reason for starting this thread.
I do hope your St Valentines Day efforts were never ever thwarted!
@msolga,
Msolga, dear,
No, they weren't.
Don't worry about me, I'm quite resilient.
As a matter of fact, troubles of life slide on my skin like beads of water on a freshly waxed surface..
@Francis,
This is good to hear, Francis!
(I was just checking, in case you wanted to confide, share a story or two ...
I'm a great listener.
)
Carry on now ....
