A2K Fonts Changed?

Reply Mon 7 Feb, 2011 05:20 pm
Is it just me, or did the font style and font size on A2K change in the last 36 hours or so?

I'm finding it very difficult to read now.

Checked all the browser settings to be sure nothing changed there. Everything is the same on other websites, A2K is the only one with the change.

If this is a permanent change, is there any chance of offering an "extra large" font option? I've already got the "large" option checked.

@Butrflynet,
Very odd.

The text in posts is the same as it has always been, but the text for thread titles, tags and member name have all gotten a lot smaller on both the New Posts page and the individual thread pages. Also, most tag lines on the New Posts page used to wrap to a second line. Now they don't, they're all on one line. There is also about an inch of white space on the list to the right of the Last Post by section.

I can hardly read them without putting my face a few inches from the screen. The body of the posts are their usual readability.

Here's a screen capture of what I'm seeing:

@Butrflynet,
I don't see any difference between what you're seeing now and what I've seen since the format change.

@JPB,
Hmm...I'd say that it must be my eyes, but the problem is only with the smaller text for tags and user names. The text for the body of the post is the same as it has always been.

Okay, I'll keep tweaking my browser settings and see if that makes any difference.

Okay, I found a fix for it.

I just used the zoom in feature on Firefox and it is now back to the familiar size and readability.

I'll just have to remember to zoom in whenever I come back to the A2K site.

Thanks for the feedback!

@farmerman,
Well that was fun.

I really thought you were just screwing around at first - but then I really looked at it and could read it. Cool. Smile

Oops, I didn't see your example, will have to check.
I have trouble with the very wee green top and end indicators on scroll, but RG answered that re his reasons, and, besides, I know where they are and think they are very useful.

Ok, checked, don't recognize anything different.
But then...

@ossobuco,
Heres a little neurological test:

Quote:
1 - Find the C below, Please do not use any cursor help.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

2 - If you already found the C, now find the 6 below.

3 - Now find the N below. It's a little more difficult.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

@JPB,
Take it and transfer it back to the normal helvetica 12 and that makes it more like it was intended .

@farmerman,
I'm ok on these, but I can't just look at the whole thing and see it, having visual field gaps. But I see it after a couple of sweeps.

@ossobuco,

the C and N jump out because the rows they're in are slightly shorter...
