Can bubble gum give me the flu?

Do you have more of a chance of catching a cold if you are chewing gum and blowing bubbles? In other words, can airborne germs be caught by my bubble and then ingested after it has deflated and the gum is back in my mouth?

I don't believe you can catch the flu by ingesting the virus, however if it attaches itself to a bubble that you bring back into your mouth it may have the same effect as if you touched a contaminated area and then put your fingers in your mouth.

I doubt your chances of catching the flu significantly increase if you chew gum and blow bubbles, but anything that increases the opportunity for the virus to get into your nose or mouth will at least slightly increase your chance of being infected.

When I was a kid a friend of mine got black chewing gum from her relatives in USA.
We shared it! Chewing 15 minutes each...... we certianly did not get sick.

If you're just worried about airborne germs, I think you'll have to stop breathing. Which is a little tricky.

Bowards Buges? ..don't really think there's a higher chance to contract virus by blowing gum bubbles.
