@Nancy88,
This Highland Park High School "Graduation and Commencement" program is the event attended by all graduating seniors and their families. The school sponsored event celebrates the student's successful graduation from high school.

Colleges also have their own version of Graduation and Commencement where students who finish their 4 year Bachelor's Degree attend the ceremony to collect the actual paper degree. The commencement part of the program is where a speaker is brought in to give a graduation speech that will inspire the newly graduated students and hopefully help them figure what to do next now they have finished this education milestone.

@tsarstepan,
So it simply means Commencement Ceremony?

@Nancy88,
You could say that Graduation and Commencement is a redundant name and that Commencement Ceremony is a good alternative.

Graduation and Commencement = Commencement Ceremony.
