In less enlightened parts of the world they measure temperature in Celsius. It is so confusing, starting at 0 for freezing. Shocked

32 degrees Fahrenheit = 0 degrees Celsius. The point is; if you were say living in France and the temp was 0; and the announcer said it was gonna be twice as cold tomorrow, what the heck would the temp be?

Francis:

time, ti me = Time is full of surprises, let's part it Cool

Full and part time it is, although;

TTH:

TIME ALONE & TIME APART? Cool

Is a very good alternative. Razz

Stormy:

"Happy Fathers Day, Try. You must get a lot of cards with a kid in every port!"The only clue in the instructions is given by the equation h=512t - 16t^2.

(Here h is in feet and t is in seconds)

Can you tell me the maximum height and time at which the object hits the ground Question

ROCKET

In 32 seconds the rocket will hit the ground. Cool

There is no way he could know that, unless he also has a kit. Let's check it out…

h = 512t - 16t^2
h = 16t (32 - t)
h = 0 when t = 0 or when t = 32

At t = 0, the object is launched. It hits the ground 32 seconds later.

dh / dt = 512 - 32 t = 32 (16 - t)
dh / dt = 0 when t = 16

So the maximum height is 512(16) - 16(16)^2 = 4096

It would appear he is once again, only just right. Razz
