Trade was a little slow on Mark's stand, so he enlisted the help of a few guys from the bar. Try, Thoh, Stuh and Rap passed out fliers for Mark.

Try passed out half of the fliers. Thoh passed out half of those fliers left. Stuh passed out one fourth of the remaining and Rap passed out the last 9 fliers (nice work Rap).

How many fliers did they pass out altogether

So that leaves (1/2) x - (1/4) x = (1/4) x remaining.

Stuh passed out 1/4 of those remaining: (1/4) (1/4) x = (1/16) x

Rap passed out the last 9 fliers.

The four Musketeers passed out all the fliers so.

(1/2) x + (1/4) x + (1/16) x + 9 = x
