The logic of math is still something that amazes me.
My lack of it never does.
Correct version: (1800 - 1.2g*h/2 = 1740)
My version: (1800 - 1.2g*h/2 = 1740 but carry over the 1800 and write 1840) Not once but twice. You have just gotta laugh.
However, to wheedle my way out, how about this as an excuse:
?'Damn! I did check my work and still made it 1840'
CJ, "You meant for Farmer Egli?"
No, of course not, it was in reference to the changes in the Gregorian calendar after the US purchase of Alaska from Russia, which at the time was still on the Julian calendar.
Rap:
I got one of you won $1120

and the other $328

. But I don't know who won the greater amount.
Well let's see, this can be done by looking for two numbers m and n ,
whose PRODUCT (as Try says) is 9! = 9 * 8 * 7 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 362880, and whose SUM (Chris adds) is 382 = 1444.
So: m * n = 362880 and m + n = 1444, or n = 1444 - m.
Substituting, we get m(1444 - m) = 362880 ; m2 - 1444 m + 362880 = 0 .
Factoring this is the same as looking for two numbers
whose sum is 1444 and product is 362880.
Factor m2 - 1444 m + 362880 = 0
(m-1120)(m-324) = 0
m = 1120 and m = 324
Then n = 324 and 1120
Try and Chris had winnings of $1120 and $324.
And if you want to do it without algebra, make a table of pairs of numbers that add up to 1444, with their products:
Num 1 Num 2 Product
-------- -------- -------
1 . . . . 1443 . . . 1443
2 . . . . 1442 . . . 2884
3 . . . . 1441 . . . 4323
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
323 . . . 1121 . . 362083
324 . . . 1120 . . 362880 . . YES!

TTH:
You said earlier that 20 is a score so is this suppose to be scoreboard?
"I don't like it."
Your observations have been passed to the adjudication panel, and as a result of their deliberations it has been agreed that; in future only questions you like will be painted.
A, B, C, and D are house painters. The team of A, B, and C can paint my house in 3 days; if A and D work as a pair it takes 6 days; the pair of C and D takes 8 days, and the team of B, C, and D can finish in 5 days.
How long would it take the whole 4-person crew to paint my house
