MOU quote, "watches - stopped of course, this one shows correct time twice a day" Very Happy
Answer: He would get the watch that was no longer working. This watch would show correct time twice a day. The watch that was falling behind one minute per day, on the other hand, would only show correct time once in every 720 days.

Quote magnum, "Well i am also back again in the land of the living"
Welcome back to the land of the un-dead, although in one or two cases I am not all that sure.

An officer posted three guards on each of the four sides of a castle. Whenever he wanted to check on the soldiers, the officer could just pop his head out of any of the four windows, and he was satisfied with the result of his inspections. Yet, reports came to him that people had seen his guards, usually three at a time, who should have been on duty, drinking beer at taverns in town.

The officer was puzzled: how could that be Question

24 + 8 he will get for 24 wrappers + 2 he will get for 6 wrappers (2 remaining) + 1 he will get for three wrappers - 35 candies and one wrapper still remaining.

this Beatle is giving me headache - unless it's an old bug, spirit of John Lennon, or they simply turned back

I haven't thought about guards so much until now, but I have an idea if they can move. if they have to stay on exact spot then I don't see it so far. However, if they are allowed to move nine of them can make appearance of 12 - three of them can always be in a view - difference is that officer will see some of them (those at corners) twice.
E.g. if he looks north he sees G1 on left corner of view, G2 in the middle, and G3 on right side of view.
If he looks West, he sees G4 on left side, G5 in the middle, AND - G1 on right side of his view.

Hm, but that's probably not correct solution because now I see that only 8 of them are enough for that, and in that case four of them could go drinking instead of three.

Candy wrappers. = 35 Very Happy
With his 24 wrappers Charlie will get 8 candies, giving him a total of 32 candies.
With 6 wrappers from the 8 candies Charlie can then trade for 2 candies, giving him a total of 34 candies
Charlie now has 4 wrappers in his hand, 2 remaining from the previous 8 candies (8-6=2) and 2 from the 2 candies he's just taken in. With 3 of these 4 wrappers he can trade for 1 more candy, giving him a total of 35 candies.

But Charlie still has 2 wrappers, one remaining from the previous 4 candies (4-3=1)) and 1 from the 1 candy he's just acquired. If Charlie wants his candy really bad, he can now borrow a wrapper from someone else and with his 3 wrappers trade for 1 candy. He'll keep the content and return the wrapper to its rightful owner. 36 candies! Charlie is so happy. Very Happy

Suffer no more, this was the answer I was given.

Well, the Beetle did not actually get by. The lakeside road was a loop, and since Mary and John's car travelled much faster than the Beetle, by the time John woke up, they had come full circle and was then trailing behind the Beetle. Confused

Zero. Because all sides of the room are covered with mirrors, there are no windows, doors and is no light fitted, it must be totally dark.
