It wouldn't, that's why I asked to show the whole grid. Now I guess Try wasn't working with Roman numerals.

After your remarks earlier, I have looked for mistakes in my puzzle but so far all looks OK. So any ideas, Mark?

I did not use vertical clues I, II, IV (I didn't understand them).

Previously, I hadn't noticed that each number could not repeat a digit.
Knowing that made it much easier.
