Hey Osso... that quote was even more fun when delivered by Black along with the TV ad.

Here's Mr.P's turn of phrase for today:

"Protestantism was the triumph of Paul over Peter, fundamentalism is the triumph of Paul over Christ." - William James Durant (1885-1981)

"Most of us agreed it could be made into a pretty good flying machine with a few modifications, like adding a conventional tail, tripling the thrust, cutting the nosewheel strut in half, completely redoing the flight control system, and getting someone else to fly it."

John Moore, test pilot, referring to the Chance-Vought F7U-3 'Cutlass'

"Fascism, n.; a philosophy or system of government that advocates or exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with an ideology of belligerent nationalism."

- The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, New College Edition, copyright 1969, printed 1976.

America doesn't openly support dictatorship, you require a brain to figure the picture out. So I guess the definition doesn't directly apply. Too bad.

Hmmm, Hullo ReX. I used to have a teeshirt that said Question Authority. My b-i-l, a policeman, gave it to me.

Mr.P is back in business after an unexpectedly long hiatus caused by guy-time fishing in Prince William Sound, followed by a disaster-wracked change in computer ISP's. Poor fella. Poor me. Remember that song, "I want my MTV!"? Well, Mr.P wanted his ISP... to work properly.

It doesn't hurt my feelings to say that Craven was right... Changing ISP's is too damned much trouble! And knowing the difference in ages between me and Craven, today's quote is perfectly apt.

"A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five." -
Groucho Marx (1895-1977)

"Every man gets a narrower and narrower field of knowledge in which he must be an expert in order to compete with other people. The specialist knows more and more about less and less and finally knows everything about nothing."

I'm so glad that this thread is back; it has so many hidden gems. I have always loved Mr. P's idea of a quote a day.

Thanks, Drom. I'll tell him, he'll like that! He sends these to several friends and family members in emails every day. So far, the quote that engendered the most anger (and caused a couple of people to ask that he stop sending them) was one from Nelson Mandela.

"An SUV flying the Stars & Stripes is like a two-dollar whore with a rosary."

- a nameless comedian I heard on the "5:20 Funny" on 103.4 The Mountain radio station last night when I was driving home from Silverdale.

I was in a traffic jam right behind a Mitsubishi with a bumper sticker that said "Too close for rockets, switching to guns."

(Hi Dyslexia! That's funny!)

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

Pat Robertson (1930- ), fundraising letter, 1992
