More information about this quote and the
Battle of Dunbar.
"... I make it a rule never to weigh or measure a fish I've caught, but simply to estimate its dimensions as accurately as possible, and then, when telling about it, to improve these figures by roughly a fifth, or twenty percent. I do this mainly because most people believe all fishermen exaggerate by at least twenty percent, and so I allow for the discounting my audience is almost certain to apply."
Ed Zern (1977)
Darn it... I'm not very good at keeping up these quotes.
Here's todays:

every major religion today is a winner in the Darwinian struggle waged among cultures, and none ever flourished by tolerating its rivals."

Thanks, Osso. I used to go to a LOT of meetings when I worked for the state. Today's quote is one of my favorites... I think of often around here.
"I have the world's largest collection of seashells. I keep it on all the beaches of the world...perhaps you've seen it."
Steven Wright (1955- )
Steven Wright was in Comedy Central's List of 100 best stand-up comics... his rating?
#23. Steven Wright
That's ahead of all these great ones:
24. Redd Foxx
25. Bob Hope
26. Ray Romano
27. Jay Leno
28. Jack Benny
29. Milton Berle
30. Garry Shandling
31. George Burns
32. Albert Brooks
33. Andy Kaufman
34. Buddy Hackett
35. Phyllis Diller
36. Jim Carrey
And he deserved to be ahead of that group.
The only one on that list who has comedic talent is Albert Brooks.
He's one of my favorites, Gustav, along with Norm Macdonald who was #83 and Paula Poundstone, #88. Go figure. What I liked about that list was re-acquainting myself with some comics that I'd forgotten about. <grin>
"
men are the product of a damaged gene. They pretend to be normal but what they're doing sitting there with benign smiles on their faces is they're manufacturing sperm. They do it all the time. They never stop."
- Germaine Greer (1939- )
Yep. Not very flattering, that's for sure.
"What is man, that thou art mindful of him?" - Psalm 8:4
