@tsarstepan,
You lose the bet Stepan, but I lose my cuspiness.

13 zodiac signs? that's cool.

This is kind of silly because the zodiac has always been arbitarily defined - the year was split up into twelve equal bits (one for each sign) but the constellations that define the signs take up massively different widths of the ecliptic (not to mention the precession of equinoxes). The first kid born orbiting another sun gets to forget the whole sorry business.

I don't get something -- isn't your astrological sign supposed to be about when you were BORN? As in, if they just changed this, doesn't it affect babies born now rather than those of use who were born before the change?

This says they're not wrong after all, depending somewhat on how you measure:

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-your-zodiac-sign-hasnt-changed/

excerpt:

Quote:
True enough, Jawer says, the sun doesn't align with constellations at the same time of year that it did millennia ago. But that’s irrelevant for the tropical zodiac, codified for Western astrology by Ptolemy in the second century, he says.

In the tropical zodiac, the start of Aries is fixed to one equinox, and Libra the other.

"When we look at the astrology used in the Western world, the seasonally based astrology has not changed, was never oriented to the constellations, and stands as … has been stated for two millenniums," Jawer said.

People who put stock in astrology can ask whether they should adhere to the tropical zodiac or the sidereal zodiac. Jawer argues for the tropical.

"Astrology is geocentric. It relates life on Earth to the Earth’s environment, and seasons are the most dramatic effect, which is why we use the tropical zodiac," he said.

It's impossible for astrology to be any sillier than I already knew it was. It's already the epitome of silliness.

Their point is that it's been wrong for a long, long time - and nobody bothered to publicize that fact.

Extend the tattoo by giving it arms and make the arms look like their juggling fish (Pieces).

@ossobuco,
I'll top you by capitalizing a random letter or two in scoRpIo. That's how little I respect the pseudoscience of astrology.

I may be the only person on this thread who thinks his "new" sign is closer to the mark than his "old" one

@maxdancona,
No way, I am boycotting or something, I've been a Gemini "forever" and I intend to remain one.
