How would you translate the phrase "A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it."

Mortuum cum flumine sed contra fluminem solum vivens ire potest.

Mortuum --> dead thing
cum --> with
flumine --> stream
sed --> but
contra --> against
fluminem --> stream
solum --> only
vivens --> living thing
ire --> to go
potest --> is able
