A three hundreds dollars windfall came to me thank to an incompetent field service department.
I was into the second year of a five years service contract when my electric dryer stop working.
A gentleman then came out, just looks at it for a moment, and told me that it needed a certain part order and he would get back to me. At the time, I did question how he could be so sure without doing a further examination but he was very sure of his diagnostic.
So after not hearing from them for two weeks I call and were then informed that the repair would cost more then the dryer and they had given me a three hundreds dollars store credit.
So I just got done taking the back off to the electronic section of the dryer myself and reseating the connections and the dryer is now humming along just fine.
Now my only question is what other then a dryer am I going to use that store credit for.
My dryer just died. It took two full cycles to almost dry a small load.
I bit the bullet. Boxing day week sale. 1/2 price.
I just bought a new dryer. I've coveted it forever, well since I first saw its magnificence on a commercial a few years ago. A frontloader, its got steam!! Yeah. Can I get an amen.. I never have to iron again!!!
Jeez, have you Canucks not discovered modern fabrics yet? I have probably ironed three times in the last two decades, and I dont have steam in my dryer...
Roger I am not sure however I am thinking it was in the range of 30 dollars.

In the past, I have not taken advantage of those service contracts , but with most applicance parts made in China, I think I will.
My daughter has had 3 sink disposals in 5 years. I have had the same one for 16. Plumber said they started manufacturing them in China and they just don't last as long. Inferior parts.

we haven't had a dryer in years, use drying racks, put up a shower curtain rod in a small hallway that leads to the laundry room, hang stuff there at night when nobody is walking through there, and it's dry by morning
in the good weather we hang outside
