Exactly. "Each" made me think of just two.

Otherwise, with more than two, it would have been as you say. But of course "each" could refer to a number greater than two, if there was a particular reason for stressing "each individual". It's a bit obscure.

Each focuses on the individuals separately, all focuses on the group collectively.

We had each worked out who the murderer in the thriller was.

We all sang "Happy Birthday" at John's party.
