fearful that my place of birth would be a department store, she made a staggered journey back to the safe confines of her postcode, where her waters broke just as the heavens opened.

"my"- describing his own birth
"her waters broke"- his mother was just about to give birth
"the heavens opened"- it began to rain very heavily.
