sorry I read again just now and found that I had made a silly mistake: it is the gaol instead of goal!

I did a search for gaol, rather than goal, and i couldn't find anything. Have you tried searching for McKinley Kantor's poetry? That might give you a clue.

Gaol (jail) makes a lot more sense!
