I am watching "Peaceful Warrior" now. I love all the red in the movie! (it is a game I play to look for all the red things in a movie) But I can't seem to find empathy for the lead actor yet. Maybe if he cried some real tears. I have watched over half of it with zero emotional response so far. (maybe it is just me) (the shower scene was a highlight) hehe

When the main character gets in an accident after endangering others by recklessly driving his motorcycle though traffic at that moment when he has a crash I almost felt like he deserved what he got. Then it seems pointless to watch the rest of the film to see him succeed in his Olympic endeavors...

Perhaps I am too cold hearted. Gonna finish the movie and see, will respond again after. Maybe I need to give this movie a little more time. Nick Nolte is pretty good in the film but still not much on the fireworks yet.

The plot seems to want to go somewhere but it has not moved an inch yet.

Ok, I spoke too soon, I finished "Peaceful Warrior". It is definitely a feel good movie, touched me several times (after the half time mark). The main character absolves himself. Awee... Nick Nolte was an angel Smile

Worth the watch, yes.

Like I said, it's not everyone's feel-good movie, and yes, the movie redeemed itself toward the end for all the lack of emotion in the first half.

I've a certain Bollywood list of feel-good flicks shaping up in my mind - will crank it out here when I have time. By that time, you'd have watched the other stuff I recommended.

Gosh, I love this!

@Rex,

Have u watched Sideways?

It has 97% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes... worth it!

I think it also won an Academy Award for Best Adaptive Screenplay.

One really good film to enjoy... Luv the subtleness, humane emotions and some really hilarious sequences.

Fresh movie. Smile

4/5 from me.

Two great movies, both positive, feel-good, uplifting.
Secretariat and the musical, Burlesque. Secretariat is exciting, Burlesque is fun.

RexRed, you watched Peaceful Warrior? That was an amazing life-changing book during the 1970s. I've read it few times. I don't think the movie ever made it big, never seemed to come out in theatres. Seems like it would be difficult to make into a movie. Book is excellent.

Yea I watched Peaceful Warrior and I did not feel any sort of reaction till about halfway though then it picked up and exonerated itself. Yea, it jerked a few tears out of me. Smile hehe

Gonna look into your other suggestions Permerson and I will watch and get back to you...

@RexRed,
You have no idea how much I've begun to hate Bollywood over the past year - I have a resolution not to watch any Hindi movie other than one featuring Aamir Khan.

But now that I'm stirring my head to recall some of the stuff I've liked in the past, some of the hatred is gradually diminishing.

Could only be a good thing, I guess.

Can you elaborate on why you are upset with Bollywood please?

I know this is off topic but I am interested.

I watched Dil Chahta Hai today and was absolutely blown away!!! Again Bollywood hits the mark perfectly! Beautiful, touching music and dance, superb acting and actors and the plot reaches into your heart and warms it till it is satisfied and glittering Smile Flawless!

Pertinent cultural issues are handled gracefully. Thanks India!

I just finished watching the movie "sideways". It didn't make me feel bad or anything but it seemed to drag. The cinematography was nice and the actors were very good. The story seems a bit like fine wine, you have to have a taste for it.

I watched "Pay It Forward" tonight. WOW it is movies like that that seem to redeem the human race. Sad ending but leaves you thinking for sure. A must see. Angie Dickinson was unforgettable in it too, was so great seeing her. Even Bon Jovi did good in his bit part. The other actors were monumental. Ok, I forgive Kevin Spacey for stabbing Superman with kryptonite Smile

The first half of Apocalypse Now...that movie makes me feel great...I wanna go out and kill somtin afta wachin it.

I watched the first half and the only word I can think to describe what I have seen is "existential". I may watch the second half at some point. The movie seem contradictory in itself and it is hard to assess. The movie makes it seem like there is no way to behave civilized in a war and there are no heroes in war. Not sure if I agree with that. I believe at least the Cambodian part of the war was completely unethical. I don't disagree with that.

A movie like this is perhaps necessary but does it really provoke a positive change in people in general? I think Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" stimulates more cultural harmony than a film like this. Love is greater in the positive than fear can ever be in then negative. Past mistakes should never be forgotten but it is time to move on.

NOTHING about Apocalypse Now makes me feel good. I doubt it even gave comfort to our enemies as it was possibly meant to do.
