@dadpad,
So, we've descended to that have we . . .

Paddy and Micky decide that they can find work most easily by joining the Gardai, so off the go to talk to the Sergeant.

Paddygoes in first, and says to the Sergeant: "Sargeant Darlin', i'm a big, fine healt'y boy, so i am, and i want to join the Gardai.

"Oh Paddy, sure and i'd like to help ye, so i would, but you're so bloody stupid, i don't suppose ye even know who killed our Lord Jaysus Christ."

"So i don't, but i'll find out!

He comes out of the office and Micky asks him how it all went, and Paddy says:

"Oh, Great! They put me on a murder case!"

@Setanta,
Thanks, this was really helpful! Especially speaking of Daniel O'Connell, Cu Culainn, and Herbert Hamilton Harty plus his most famous works. Much appreciated.

@Setanta,
one of my favourite lines from Monty Pythons Contractual Obligations album, from a sketch involving a bookseller (sort of a literary take on the cheese shop skit)

Customer : Do you have a book called One Hundred And One Ways To Start A Fight?
Bookseller: By?
Customer: An Irish gentleman I believe.

and lets not forget the Irishmen that no summer party would be complete without inviting, Paddy O'Lantren and Paddy O'Furniture
