Street Numbers

My son has bought me a new tv set. It was supposed to be a surprise gift as I was having a bit of trouble receiving the digital channels on my old analog. He phoned me yesterday to ask if I liked it. I didn't know a thing about it, it has not arrived although he bought it two weeks ago. He phoned the company and they told him their courier was unable to locate my address. I have given them explicit instructions and am looking forward to my 'new arrival'.

I have been begging my landlord for five years to put the number of the property on the side fence; I am not allowed to affix anything without their approval and they just keep promising to 'do something about it'. (The block has two semi-detached houses on it and they are built facing the side street.)But that is by the way, I just make a point of telling everyone "it's on the corner of A and B" and it is only unexpected callers that get caught.

I have just had a look at the Googlemap of my street and thought I would share this little gem with you. On the opposite side the numbers run, as you would expect, from 2 to 168. On my side we have 1 to 19A then 86 and 86A, followed by 89, 78, 80, 69, 44, 53, 48, 48A, 21, 23 (which is actually an open storm water culvert running down to the lake), 25, 27, 27A, 29, 31, 31A, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 34, 37, 38, 39, 119, 36, 39, 40, 155, 157, 36, 27 and 26.

I couldn't think where to post this, Humour seemed to be the best idea. I would like to go back in time and meet the town planner that was responsible. He was a real hoot!

Has anybody else come face to face with such insanity?
