Since that is an idiomatic expression, I have been looking around for the
equivalent Latin expression, but haven't found anything.

A word used for win when you're referring to winning or gaining a prize is
comprehendere. I would suggest using that with the word for "day".

"win the day"
comprehende diem

I would pronounce it com-pray-HEND-ay DEE-em.
