After an artcle submitting, the editor replies with "Figures 2-4 are pixelled."

What does "pixelled" mean here?

It means that an analogue image was converted to a digital image in order to display it.

What I get confused is:

Isn't all images in computers are digitalized (pixelled), is it?

The editor may "excessively blocky" due to a low number of pixels. Study the images in question and compare them to the others. Sometimes people use "pixellated" for this phenomenon. Is the editor a native English speaker? Why don't you ask him or her?
