a twice-weekly injection = twice injections in a week?

or :

one injection in two weeks?

Context:

"By that, I mean we delivered the microRNA inhibitor in a way we might give it to a person -- as a twice-weekly injection -- not using some genetic trick. It's the closest thing to a clinical result that's yet been published."

a twice-weekly injection = two injections in a week?

If the injection was intended to be give at two week intervals they could write "a two-weekly injection" or "a fortnightly injection" (the latter is more likely in British English countries)
