Context:

Towards the origin of the river I seek,

Along the rugged path that is winding.

Defying the wild torrent with iron will,

As though I have stood on the shoal.

The naswer is no, it's a good expression. It is a more poetic way of saying 'the winding road' which would be the more usual word order (adjective preceding noun) in English. But there is absolutely nothing wrong -- or awkward -- in writing it the way you have it.
