no rooster anymore. We had one and he was a real PITA, kept attacking everybody like he owned the place. He attacked one of our dogs. That was a big mistake, fpor which he paid mightily. Ernie, the main dog, broke the roosters neck .
Hens actually dont need a rooster to lay eggs. Think of eggs as mere "henstration" (except their little frirend will visit them daily based upon diet).
All you need is a few square feet of yard . They even raise chickens in NYC. A rooster would disturb the ambiance. All our neighbors have chickens , peafowl and roosters. In the morning its like a jungle around here. The sound carries for miles.
