Mitsu Is About To Leave

Things have been rather somber here in the Nomad household this
past week. It's Mitsu. Here is how we want to remember her.

Click on photo to see how she is today. She's stopped eating anything. She does
get up to drink water, though, and we have to be vigilant to tidy up after her..

What I'm witnessing is a natural ending, and the
vet agreed with me over the phone.

No pain; just the appearance of total weariness.

She'll stay at home and leave unassisted.

She's been with us since the spring of 1995, and It now
seems she's really older than Nekochan, who'll be
about twenty this year.

@neko nomad,
I know that day will be a sad day for you.

Makes me realize how little time we have left with our Rikki who has been with us since the fall of 1988. Rescued from the roadside in the country.

Best wishes.

Aw. She looks so content and sweet in the photo you posted. I'm glad you decided to keep the other one hidden. I want to remember her this way too. You're doing a brave thing to allow her to die with dignity.

These photoes remind me of when Simi was failing.

I remember her looking in my eyes, and so clearly saying "I don't want to be here anymore."

sniff.

Mitsu is a good kitty.

@neko nomad,
So sorry. What a charmer.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((neko nomad)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I do hope her death is quick and easy and you are with her.

It is a tribute to her care that she has lived so long and so healthily.

Thanks,all; and here I thought I was doing a good job of reporting matter-of-factly.
Mitsu was a lucky being from the start: the Humane Society kept her a month when we saw her photo in their ad in the newspaper.Not many cats are so fortunate due to space considerations. The head honcho took a liking to her enough to go the extra yard,featuring her in the newspaper as well.

And now, it's as though she's at the boarding gate - you know, like, not in amongst the family any longer. I still get a feeble purr out of her when I place my palm ever so gently on her chest,though.

@neko nomad,
This brought a few tears to my eyes, as it's been a year since Kory died, and next month the same for Kira.

I hope your kitty dies without pain.

Remember the good memories that you've got of her.

Hugs to all...

@neko nomad,
I won't click the current picture. This is how we will all remember her.

I am always reassured by the old saying "Cats don't know that cats die."

The pictures not bad.

It's just us when we are 100.

Mitsu is beautiful in the hidden picure, in a different way.

Seasons don't fear the Reaper, and neither does Mitsu.

So sorry about Mitsu.

Since animals don't seem to fear death they can usually go peacefully. When their loved ones are nearby and they are very near death, they seem to become the epitome of love and that will never die.

@roger,
Lotta pain can accompany the goodbyes we give our pets. I get a lump in my throat when I read the above. I understand cause weve been there .
I gotta say though that some of the biggest purrs weve been given were when one of our cats is near the end and were sitting there petting her till she leaves.

People who dont share their lives with animals dont know a damn about unconditional , no games, devotion.

Ah neko ....
I feel so saddened by your news. I know that at 20 years of age this is to be expected, but I know (all too well) how hard it can be anyway.
My thoughts are with you & Mrs n ... & with Miss Molly & necko chan, too, of course. I know how loved your three beautiful tabby & white critters are & what an important a part of your life they always have been.
May she go gently & as painlessly as possible.

@neko nomad,
She is quite a charming beauty. I wish she (and other cats and dogs) could stay around for at least 15 more years.

Hopefully she'll peacefully pass away in her sleep.

Does Nekochan seem to realize Mitsu's health problems?

It makes me sad to read this, neko. I have always had cats, so I know how it feels when it's time for one to go.

Remember, Mitsu has had a great life with you, filled with love, and when the days get even tougher, you can surely take comfort in that.

Give her a little scritch under the chin for me.
