He was joking on the fact that everyone will inevitably die sometime in indeterminate future. That no human (implicitly as of this present day's understanding of medicine and technology) has reached the stage of immortality and thusly will inevitably die.

As I understand his statement, he is 100% accurate in his prediction. Perhaps modern science can turn this statement into an obsolete fact from the annals of medical history, but I won't hold my breath to wait for this scientific breakthrough to happen in my lifetime.
