Yup Ed- I first became aware ot the Young Turks listening to Air America, back when it was cranking up, and Al Franken wasn't a Senator.

There exists already a thread to argue KFC and racism. I hope it does not take over this thread. That was only a part of what TYT are about.

@edgarblythe,
Edgar, edgar ... you don't want to go there!!!!
There was a long, convoluted, sometimes twisted thread where the Australians tried & tried to explain ...
It went on & on & on ... exhausting
It was all about contexts & cultural differences.
The crux of it was that what might have been offensive to US sensibilities was an entirely different matter within the context of that particular cricket series. No amount of patient explaining could get that message across.
Just thinking about that discussion makes me cross, months later! Wink

I started this thread to be about the news as seen by some people I like very much. Until dadpad broke in, I did not realize there was a connection to the KFC thing, which to me is a very tempest/teacup story in the first place. I collapsed that thread long ago so none of the blood could splash on me. I stated after dadpad's post that this thread is not about that for the very reason you just gave. But, people can't leave it alone. I suggest to people who want to be that way, reopen the other thread. In the meantime, if you don't mind, I will get on with what this thread is really about. @edgarblythe,
edgar you asked:

And I responded.

I have no desire to side-track your thread on the Young Turks.

@edgarblythe,
Indeed. For anyone actually familiar with the material.

That's been my sole experience with the Young Turks.

Maybe they do better with the domestic audience & with domestic issues, edgar?

It sounds that way.
