What the hell do spiderlings eat when they're small and in a 'nursery' like that, I wonder? Does the parent feed them, or something? Confused

That's a good question. I don't think the parents feed them. I think they're born ready to hunt. Maybe our resident arachnologist (?) will know...

Ordinary jumping spiders are my favorite of all. I know they can't have personalities, but it seems they do, to me.

I'm crazy about them too, Edgar.
I think all naturalists and entomologists are endeared by jumping spiders. With their large eyes they bend up their cephalothoraxes and look right into your eyes. Jumping spiders show a lot of anthropomorphism with these large eyes. A friend of mine says that because they are hunting predators they are curious about anything, people included.
They also make silken retreats on plant stems. Should you touch one, they drop out and make their escape.
