Quote:
Honeywell spends $2 million each year on science programs geared to middle school students, including a hip-hop touring group that teaches physical science, and a robotics lab program that teaches kids how to design, build and program their own robot. “We’ve found that if we don’t get kids excited about science by middle school, it’s too late,” says Michael Holland, a spokesperson for Honeywell.

Does it mean that a hip-hop touring group teaches physical science in the form of singing songs, raps included?

I can't tell. I would hope (and expect) that their lyrics teach physical science.

@littlek,
Or it's just a group of young people singing in hip-hop style to attract youngsters to come around and listen to someone teaching science subjects?

@fansy,
http://www51.honeywell.com/hhs/news-events-details/FMAFallLiveTour2009.html

Excerpt:

The innovative, traveling hip-hop science concert will reach over 16,000 students during its 10-week, 20-city tour of the United States and Canada. Named for Sir Isaac Newton’s second law of motion (force = mass x acceleration) FMA Live! uses professional actors, original songs, music videos and interactive science demonstrations to teach middle school students Newton’s three laws of motion and universal law of gravity

Excerpt:

During each FMA Live! performance, students, teachers and school administrators interact with three professional actors in front of a live audience to experience Newton’s laws firsthand. A giant sticky wall is used to demonstrate inertia; go-carts driven across the stage illustrate action and reaction; and ‘extreme’ wrestling and a huge soccer ball show that force is determined by mass multiplied by acceleration. All three of Newton’s laws are demonstrated simultaneously when a futuristic hover chair collides with a gigantic cream pie. Educator and student feedback is consistently and overwhelmingly positive after each tour stop.
