I 've seen guys, sometimes acquaintances, cross-dress; thay make a joke out of it, clowning around.

To my mind, it is mildly distasteful.
I 've read of guys, some of whom were honorable men,
brave in military service, who were obsessively addicted to that.
One poor soul was compelled to go to work dressed as a ballerina; sad.
Apparently, its a mental disorder.

That does not apply to chicks.
Thay can dress however thay wish.
That is not a mental disorder.

@plainoldme,
This is an intriguing question.

If I could afford it financially and self-consciously, I just might dress in steam punk fashion.

They have a certain stylistic confidence and a wonderfully retro~aesthetic.

Or believe it or not, men's suits. I find women in men's suits quite alluring.

@edgarblythe,
But, how would you dress if you were a woman?

@OmSigDAVID,
I'm not talking about the feeling one was born in the wrong gender or kinky sex. How would you dress if you were Diane rather than David?

I see a constant stream of men aged 50+ in Hawaiian shirts. That's what started this. I wondered whether if I had been a man, would I wear them?

After several weeks of thinking about it, the answer is no. While a few are made of handsome prints, they tend to look a bit sloppy.

I would not be a sandalphobe but would wear sturdy "fisherman" sandals made of good leather. I would wear linen shirts and khaki pants in the summer. A linen jacket to snazz things up.

My youngest brother once said that he aims for a style he called "dashing conservative." I knew exactly what he meant.

All my life, I listened to other women ask why can't straight white men have the great personalities black men have and the style that gay men have. Well, the style of gay men is not what interests me, but, were I a man, I would have style.

My own way of dressing developed as part of my mother's training, the times in which I lived, consideration of my coloring and the lessons I learned from some women who ran a great dress shop and could help a woman dress for her body type. They helped me see that I should dress like Katherine Hepburn when I was being serious and professional and like Grace Slick (or Maddie Pryor) when I wanted to have fun. I would find a male version of Kate and Grace to model myself upon as a man.

Tom Rush, from the cover of Circle Game, would be a good beginning.

Truely, I cannot begin to guess.
I don 't know much about female attire.

@plainoldme,
Oh.

I would wear modest clothing, not giving the guys a peek at my goods.

I must go shopping tomorrow. I don't have a thing to wear.

I would wear short skirts to piss off my boyfriend and make him write to a forum for advice.

See, to me, that spells dork.
I was wondering why no chicks asked for autographs when I was wearing Hawaiian shirts on stage.

@panzade,
The Hawaiian shirt thing is sort of my own little . . . sorry . . . I am at loss for words!

That shirt might be prevalent this summer because its woven material breathes better than knitted tees do. The numbers of both men and women who have suddenly cut their hair very short is a reaction to the heat. Maybe, Hawaiian shirts are as well.

In my case it's because I have a mistaken notion that the shirt de-emphasizes my ample girth.
