I saw L'orchestre septentrional d'Haïti in Montreal.
They are energy personified.

If you ask me...not that you did...
The philoforum bullshit has gone on long enough.
I'd like to see those that want to leave; go...and no need to announce it. Those that stay: "Quit your damn whining"

I had a root canal this a.m., the med is just wearing off now. No pain, but now I know how the bottom of the Gulf feels having itself drilled for oil. What a rude thing to do to anybody! After 3 shots of novocaine, course there's no pain. But, I start shaking and had to make them stop for few minutes so the shaking would cease. Dentist says this is quite common, the shaking when 3 shots is necessary.
Ug. Bad trip, root canals.

It was a 103 steenkin' degrees earlier today. A new record. Now the temp has plummeted to 102 steenkin' degrees.

It's steenkin' hot.

@dlowan,
Hey, back there a bit on about page 2, you thought maybe someone was torturing bunnies? Holy yipes, never would I enjoy watching bunnies being tortured. No, no, the bunnies were cartoon bunnies, the snake a cartoon snake. After being frightened of the snake the big fluffy fake bunnies noticed the thing rattling was a round pink infant's rattler at the end of the curled up snake. The snake was humiliated and embarrassed, being laughed at by bunnies.

Cute bunnies with big front teeth.

@Pepijn Sweep,
I had to look that word up in the dictionary:
Quote:
sep·ten·tri·on   [sep-ten-tree-on, -uhn]
–noun
Obsolete . the north.
Origin:
1350–1400; ME Septemtrio ( u ) n < L septemtriōnēs, septentriōnēs the seven stars of Ursa Major, the north, equiv. to septem seven + triōnēs (pl.) plowing oxen

—Related forms
sep·ten·tri·o·nal  [sep-ten-tree-uh-nl], adjective

I should turn off my computer as its far too hot to keep on for extended periods of time. It's a shade under 100 in my room.

@Pepijn Sweep,
Which brings up, what's the deal with heat and computers? How warm is too warm? or is it a continuum?

It's 35C here and hot, humid and sticky. They got the shower hooked up and I took one - not cold, but mild (lake water temp) - I was in heaven ... for about 2 hours. Now I'm hot, humid and sticky again. Yeech. But I gotta say, these people are just lovely to work with. 5 Drillers come tomorrow night, so that doubles our number. Oh, and hey, they got water hooked up to my kitchen sink. No longer filling bails, but still have to heat it. I'm happy. Smile

@Pepijn Sweep,
Best to put that in your profile, Pepijn. There is a no no, pretty much adhered to, about self promotion here, but a link and description is ok on a profile.

Holy crap. I had a shower with my clothes on (t-shirt and shorts) and 30 min later, I am DRY. Somebody help me!! As an aside, I made a fab chili for dinner with garlic bread and salad. Ice cream and choc syrup for dessert.

@Mame,
Also, I am losing weight, but most of it is water... in the form of sweat! I've never sweated this much in my life. It's just dripping and running down my neck. Ewwww. Yeah, mainly it's my head, face, and neck that are dripping. Feels disgusting.

Bet you felt better for a bit, though.

I used to wrap myself in wet sarongs in dry heat when I tried to sleep or did stuff....really cooling as the water evaporates.

Reminds me of this frantic call one of the foster mums I was seeing got from the school where the younger brother of the boy I was seeing that day had just (GASP!!!!) soaked himself ion the sprinklers.

It was a 42 C (108 F) day.

The school were demanding she come and get the other boy (an hour's drive away) because they had no spare clothes for him.

She panicked.

I took the phone and gently suggested they leave the little fellow outside for five minutes, in the shade, after which he would be perfectly dry.

Rog, she's everybody's mom! That's funny that someone would panic because their kid was wet - didn't we all get soaked as kids? Sprinklers, pools, fountains, you name it. Lawd.

Roger, you're a hoot.
