I had to take the long way around driving my son to work this morning. Our
normal route was blocked off because of an armed stand-off between police
and a couple of cars full folks from a group called "Rise of the Moors".

I am not making this up.

@George,
I saw it in the news. They were heavily armed.

@edgarblythe,
I almost posted about this - or did I? They said they were going to 'training camp'.

What the hell is going on down there?

@Mame,
WE have so many nutsos running around with high powered weapons I can't keep up with them all. These were new to me.

@edgarblythe,
We have a few here, too, but the emphasis is on 'few'.

I just can't believe what I'm seeing hearing about your country. Is it still a country? Or just 50 bloody-minded states with a bunch of whackadoodles?

@Mame,
Many people I follow call us an empire in decline. It's hard to find reasons to disagree.

@edgarblythe,
I would tend to agree with that, but didn't want to say so. So I just called you a bunch of whackadoodles instead Smile

@Mame,
People with my point of view are increasingly targeted by both sides of the political spectrum. An example, a politician named Nina Turner is ahead in the polls and she says the things I say. Her own party is investing millions to defeat her.

@edgarblythe,
whackadoodles! Your country is in TROUBLE. And has been for some time. And I worry a little bit because I have family and friends down there.

@Mame,
I don't like to be a pessimist, but I've fretted over our losses beginning in the 60s and gaining momentum all the time. I'm regarded as a kook, likely, by even my friends. But that doesn't make me wrong. They can quote this and that website to prove all is well or improving, but we lose fresh ground every minute of every day.

I haven't seen this yet, I saw one mention on Twitter (but I'm not very good on twitter) but didn't see any follow-up or additional info. Did this happen in Texas?

@glitterbag,
I found it George, apparently another sovereign citizen group. I've noticed these people and those First Amendment Auditors....This 'Rise of the Moors' group sounds more organized and also weaponized. I actually didn't realize any of them were part of a group, mostly I was aware of the individual nutcases. We are all going to hell in a handcart.

I'm just enjoying the show.
It's too late to save the system from within, and too early to shoot the bastards. A very awkward time.

And who gets to decide who the bastards are?

Yes, people with stratospheric IQ's and thin skins would be exceptions.

But on the plus side, our state and local police handled it well. All the Moors
are in custody. No one shot anyone. I-95 is still a mess, but for less dangerous
reasons.
