Schizophrenic Republicans

Reply Mon 2 Feb, 2009 02:01 am
If you've been following Washington DC politics you'll have noticed that the "cough cough" conservatives are back. True for eight years we saw the real republican persona, borrow and spend with a large slice of fiscal irresponsibility. But now that the republicans are back in the minority, it's all about balanced budgets and fiscal propriety. They are also demanding transparency now even though the Cheney/Bush administration was so steeped in secrets that they hid Cheney in the crypt of the White House.

One could come to the conclusion that the republicans in the minority of today are running against the republicans when they were in the majority and in control. The very things they are running against now are the very things they ppracticed under Cheney/Bush.

Perhaps the most astounding instance of this reversal of political policies is found in the media that is silent on calling the republicans out for their two faced politics. Let me give you an example. The republicans demanded that "labor" renegotiate their contracts before those industries could be bailed out. But do the republicans demand the same from upper management of industries such as the financial industry? So on one hand the republicans prance around demanding the little people make sacrifices but when it comes to the CEOs that tanked their industries in the first place, well the republicans can't pay them enough. All this goes unnoticed by the media...

I wonder what kind of country we've become? A country that allows the mentally deranged run the country like they did under the Cheney/Bush administration. The two faced politics of the republicans is so patently blatant, overt and obvious that it is astounding that it isn't the front page news day in and day out.

We saw who the republicans really are over the last eight years, so don't be fooled by their lying claims of conservatism now.

@affrayer,
I believe you've hit the nail half on the head.

Yes, the public continually elects people who are mentally deranged.
Yes, the Republicans have acted like tax and spend Democrats. Scared to death that the media would hold their feet to the fire for being conservative. They have been cowards.
They should be ridiculed by the likes of "you".
But now that the socialist are in power, they have noticed that they actually have testicles. Though they conducted themselves as gutless wonders, it is best that they now stand against the lunacy that Pelosi, Ried, and Barry propose. Considering what they have done in the previous eight years, it's hard to muster faith that they have the strength to stand, but they are the only hope of America not falling to Socialism.
Other than arms.

@g-man,
Anyone who doesn't share the conservative view of the economy is a "socialist", or so they will have you believe.

Agreed. But, anyone that opposes the liberal agenda is quickly branded as a redneck, fundamentalist, racist bigot who obviously does not understand the big picture and, therefore, needs to be taken care of, for their own good, of course.

No... you're just in the way, hindering progress. It takes more dedication and actual work to be labeled those things you have mentioned. People like Rush and Ann... they're fundamentalist racist bigots who obviously do not understand the big picture because that's the slime that comes from their mouths. If it's a spade, I'm gonna call it a friggin' spade.

Taken care of? That definition varies from person to person. For me, yeah... I'd love to "take care of them".

But of course. It's not a matter of "what" we would have you believe. It's a matter of your owning up to the fact that you are a socialist. A disease that you know that history has proven to be a failure. No matter how wonderful the promises made for the sake of fooling the masses. They are easy to fool. As proven over and over through history. But, reality always comes around to slap them in the face. Usually after a strongman comes to power and decides that he needs to eliminate anyone who opposes him or his agenda. Then after that, anyone who displeases his underlings.

In true McCarthy fashion... :thumbdown:

To undermine an opposing view by using labels with so many negative implications. I'm not impressed. Perhaps I should label every view point I disagree with as fascist? But I have more class than that....and apparently you don't. This is what happens when you debate someone with such simplistic worldviews, it turns into a name-calling match and I'm not interested in playing your games.

Ya the masses are easy to fool and it's the only reason that any republican is elected to any office at any time. The truth of the matter is that it's always a minority of people that can benefit from or by the republicans policies. I live in a socialist country and I spend a real lot of time travelling all over the USA. Canadians have it so much better in our "socialist" country than Americans in their whatever they want to call it. Large parts of most of your cities look like things did hear in 1900 before we realized that these type of conditions are nothing but breeding grounds for crime,vice,disease and all manor of horrible things. I have been in parts of New Jersey that were worse than the very worst slums in Panama city. I've been in parts of Florida that reminded me of the Domincan Republic. Real third world conditions in the middle of the good old US of A.
What about government finances? While the right wing Bush is spending more money than ever before,driving the deficit to unheard of heights. Here in this socialist land we have had a budget surplus for 12 straight years. You talk about history. Well it tells me that in the entire developed world right wing ideas have been so discredited and have proven so rfalse for so long that they no longer even exist. Except in America of course where the people were taken in again and agin by the fear mongering and to the appeals to a false patriorism and other things that uneducated Americans fall for. The good news is that they are gone,probably for good if they don't smarten up and get some coherent ideas and leaders. They are still kicking and screaming as usual but I think less and less people are paying any attention.

@Fatal Freedoms,
I just read a good book,"American Sphinx". The character of Thomas Jefferson. It's a really good book and combined with a good study of John Adams who of course was almost the opposite of Jefferson in political philosophy, gives a person a much better understanding of American political battles fought and still fought since the founding of the republic. I do not think I am any smarter than your avarage person but I find that so much of the political debate today is opinions from people totally ignorant of any American history and clueless on the subject of American political philosophy. They don't even know or understand the history of 2 years ago let alone 200 years ago. For example, The howls of protest labelling Obama, Marzist or even socialist are so ignorant of what those terms mean that I would like to slap them upside the head with a Beaver tail. I would like to see your average American educated to the point where they would see these clowns for who they really are. The real damage to the republic today consists in a total lack of a good creditable opposition with some alternate ideas that are more than blundering bluster. They could fullfill their own prediction of a "dictatorship" if they fade away into nothingness because of their own stupidity and nonsense.

Keep telling yourself you have class. At least you will believe it.
Name calling is definitely a must when calling a spade a spade heh?
Socialist are definitely the first step to the strongman process.
Yes, I'm guilty of simplicity. I'm not playing games. Your evil president is. Unless of course you can name one thing he is going to do that works to the good of America. Good luck.

Canadians are whimps. Anyone who wants a government to ensure for them security is a whimp. Success, achieving what makes people feel fulfilled can not be provided. It must be earned. There is no such thing as security anyway.
Neighborhoods that look like the dominican republic are the result of the inhabitants of that neighborhood. A matter of self respect. Or? Rather defining, heh? The people who reside in Miami, won't live in Canada. They love the heat and the atmosphere. Hardly fodder for the judgment of a nation.
Canadians have no history to make their input matter, Sorry.

Canadians are whimps eh. Is your prejudice showing just a little bit there? LOL
We want our government to insure us security? Excuse me but what is the name of the country that excuses anything in the name of "Security?" It gets so rediculous that Reagan thought that the contras threatened the Security of the USA so he illegally supported terrorists, the Contras to kill over 100 thousand women and children and destabilize Central America to the point where they have not recovered to this day. The list of crimes commited by the USA in the name of security is very long. Hoe about the trillions of dollars the USA spends in the name of National security. You think I'm stupid or something to listen to such nonsense? The people that live in these neighbourhoods are responsible for these conditions and they are lacking in self respect? What planet do you live on anyway. What responsibility do these poor people have for what should be a municiple responsibility? we have poor people here too but we don't make them live in a rat infested polluted waste land. Your last point about Canadians having no history to make us matter is one of the most ignorant statments that I have ever heard. We have fought both in WW1 and WW2 long before the USA either thought or saw that it was a cause worth fighting for. We have created a just society where the rights of all people are respected. We have a multicultural society where every race and creed is really welcome,yes even Muslims. We have a new constitution that is the envy of the entire world wherever freedom is sought. We enjoy the respect and admiration of almost every country on the globe. We have the healthyest financial system on the planet and the list just goes on and on my friend. What are you Jealous?
