@tvsej,
It is a state of general well-being. Are you familiar with Maslows hierarchy of human needs? Everyone would be at the top of the piramide. Heres a link:

Abraham Maslow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now what it takes in terms of personal responsability to accomplish that is a whole diferent issue.

Nope. Marxism, at the core of its essence, is wrong. People want private property. The test of Marxism's erroneous conclusions about human nature is democracy. Give people under Communism democracy, and the first thing they'll vote to get rid of is Communism, in favor of private property. Locke was right. Marx was wrong. The US was founded on Locke, and thrives. The USSR was founded on Marx, and caved in. China crapped its pants when it witnessed that, and quickly began to transition to capitalism.

@tvsej,
Communism is the idiology of people who want the elite to rule for a life time by brain washing the masses. It's ethos is all people are equal regardless of education etc. A classless society controled by violence usually. The leader is usally a violent barking mad psychopath like the leader of Iran perhaps.

Good analogy Pino, and smack on.

@Pinochet73,
Communism as espoused by Marx is a stateless, classless society in which private property needn't exist since all action and life is communal.

It's a nice idea, but completely unworkable and dangerous to liberty.

@tvsej,
Dangerous only because we haven't desenvolved the cultural traditions necessary for such a "state" to exist. A world were the competition for economic superiority is the first and foremost foreign policy is hardly the setting for a communist state. You can't put the roof on till you got the walls in place.

Communism in its purest form is anarchic, but anarchic systems cannot exist. Even if everybody agreed to abide by certain ideas, what about the insane? If Joe Schmoe shoots 12 people because he's a whackjob, society will no doubt deal with him against his will. As soon as force or authority is used upon another person, a government is born.

Lenin created the Soviet Union as a temporary care-taker until the people were ready to govern themselves, and we see how that worked out.

The most practical and ethical society is one in which individual liberty takes precedence over all else, and that includes personal property.

@Pinochet73,
People want private property because they are selfish.

And last time I checked China is still communist.

Just smart communists who are willing to take money from stupid capitalist countries like the US

China isn't communist at all. China's political system is more fascist than anything else. Just because I call myself a horse doesn't mean I am one.

China's government controls the economy, but permits free trade, ergo, they are not communist. Fascism, or the political philosophy of the merger of the state and the corporate realms, is the closest ideology to representing China's political system.

Don't make light of my age. I have a BA in Political Science, you?

Technically my degree is in "Government and Politics", because UT does not deem to stoop to the level of "lesser" schools (Like UT San Antonio, where I did one or two summer courses) and name it "Political Science". I **** you not, every other university in the UT system calls it Political Science, EXCEPT for UTA. My emphasis was on political theory and international politics. I suppose that doesn't matter though, because the elders that surround me know best. You know, the same people who "knew" NAFTA would be awesome for America, and who "knew" the war on drugs would work.

I'm not targeting you, I just used your post as a pretext for the post. If a 15 year-old knows more about skateboarding than I do, I show him the respect he deserves in that field. If a Doctorate in History tells me Attila the Hun was a turtle, dammit, until I prove otherwise, he's a turtle.
