The turkey will be out just in time to allow my wife to finish baking a few pies.

I thought pie baking was a mans job. Nay, his responsibility.

Certain primitive tribal groups west of the Mississippi hold that the only "food" producing activity in which men should engage is the brewing of beer, or the distillation of spiritous liquors . . .

I just do the turkey. The rest of it is up to the other hungry people.

No sense in me being a bootelegger. I don't imbibe enough to make it worth the effort. I sometimes joke about drinking Lone Star beer on some threads, but, actually rarely do it.

I baked a turkey, the wife baked some pies. I made up a batch of fresh yams. We took our food to my youngest daughter's home, where they had corn chowder, ham, and other good stuff. Three of my four kids and their own families were there. We visited and watched a bit of football. When that many kids get together (7) they don't spend time with their staid old grandpa; they go to the little park outside and play. That's as it should be. We came home and set up the Christmas tree.

Edgar, here's a story you'll get a laugh at:

100-pound woman dubbed 'The Black Widow' wins NYC turkey-eating contest
at 14:34 on November 24, 2005, EST.

NEW YORK (AP) - It's a question just begging to be asked: How much turkey can a person gobble down in 12 minutes?

A group of competitive American eaters assembled at Artie's Deli in New York on Wednesday to find out by noshing on 4.5-kilogram (9.92 pounds) roast turkeys.

Eric (Badlands) Booker started quickly, ripping through two turkey breasts and establishing an eight-ounce lead after three minutes. As time ticked down and the competitors faced moister meat in the drumsticks and shoulders, Sonya (The Black Widow) Thomas, Chip Simpson and Tim Janus gained speed.

After 12 minutes, nearly all had stripped their bird to the bone.

After examining the scales, the judges announced a verdict: the 100-pound Thomas, of Alexandria, Va., had taken first prize, worth $2,500. Booker dropped to sixth place.

How much turkey did Thomas eat? A total of 1.9 kilograms (4.19 pounds).

Thomas says she took the Black Widow nickname because she likes to "eliminate the males" in eating contests.

Her other records include eating 65 hard-boiled eggs in six minutes and 40 seconds.

Her idol? Japanese competitive eating champion Takeru Kobayashi.

Jees - Cool Hand Luke could only eat fifty eggs, and that with somebody stuffing them down his throat. Just imagine if they'd debone them turkeys first. I bet they could have ate six pounds.

Oh, my tummy hurts. As usual I ate so much I can hardly sit, and I can't sleep from the tossing and turning. Oh, ah... Oh no, two more holidays to go...

We don't make a point of eating so much on the other two hlodays at my house. Christmas is usually a ham day, instead of turkey.

We do, on all the holidays. Not much on the drinking but big on the eating, and dancing.
