@scooby-doo cv,
Iraq is a win win. Iraqi's will no longer live and die at the whim of a tyrant and his tyrant sons.
The west "may" wind up with a friend and a stage to keep Iran within sight.
Iran, ever passing gas about the destruction of our closest ally, deserves some U.S. Airbases next to it's border.

Speaking of Iran... didn't we help install the Shah? Which just happened to be a tyrant who killed his citizens?

Didn't we also help to put Saddam in power? Isn't there a picture of Rummy shaking hands with him. Kinda odd, isn't it?

Tyrannical, genocidal dictators are bad unless they give us kickbacks. Like oil and such. That WAS why Shah was installed. And it is why Iran does not like us.

Yep the UK & US helped overthrow a elected Mohammed Mossadegh,this was in 1953 and was done because Mossadegh nationalized Irans oil reserves.

Yep we also helped put saddam in power and backed him in the war against iran,at the same time saddam was committing genocide against the kurds.

Western policy is to back evel dictators when it suits their agenda :thumbdown:

Iran has a serious problem with American troops next door to it.
Iran has no strength other than the weakness of it's enemies.

You're kidding me, right? How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you say stuff like that?

Iran has the 8th highest ranked military force in the world. Iran has almost 900,000 troops and 1,800 tanks. Iran also has about 11 million additional people it could potentially call up for service. If we invaded Iran it would make the Iraq war look like a cake-walk.

"iran has a serious problem with American troops next door to it"

Quite rightly so ! How would you feel if the Russians put 150,000 troops in cuba or venezuela ?

We already know how they'd react if Russia set up shop next to us. We called it the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Sold a lot of fallout shelters, that did.
