I think monopolies are bad because a false sense of competition can potentially be created and lead to higher prices with no reason, but that doesn't seem an excuse for the gov to interfere to me.

But if they exist, than free market does not, as then prices are no long set be supply and demand, and customer, seller relation.

However, it can also be argued that to prevent a monopoly would be to take away a large value of the free market- that you can expand as much as you want to.

I don't know, I'm not totally commited on either side of this (not socialism, monopolies).

@92b16vx,
Here comes the smack down. Since the government has been taken over by the dems, of the sudden we are getting laws thrown at us out of left field as if these people think they have to write a few laws a day to look like they are not a waist of money. They try to controll our thoughts, the way we raise our children, how we spend our time....They think we are too stupid to make descisions on our own. They think it is there job to tell us how we should live. But in a government founded on by the people, for the people, where the hell is the peoples voice. dressing up a frog and calling it a bear doesn't make it a bear. Stating that the people vote for who is in charge, Most people are misslead by the people they vote for, most people vote for someone because of one thing they like that they want to do ignoring the ten bad things that come along with it. people don't want to research thier officials anymore. They want to look for the 1 good thing and say that's my man/woman. It's not just the dems either, it's both parties. Here is a perfect example of this....The govenor of texas Rick Perry, came on tv with his pretty boy tough guy outfit and was walking the borders saying "I Rick Perry am tough on the borders and if the government won't do anything about it, i will". Then the week after election, his first day back in office, He said trying to stop illegal imigration is stupid basicly and that he wasn't going to do anything about it. Not exact words but what i got out of it. But Texas voted him back into office because of his propositions for Illegal Imigration and ignored the tons of other bad ideas that he had.Not to mention that he was and is an hibitual liar. The government is slowly but surely taking away the will of the American people to stand up to them. We can take someone out of power just as quickly as we placed them there. Before too much longer if we let thing continue like they are, we will forget that that is even an option. Like i said before if someone is black i will describe them as black, if someone is white i will describe them as white, and if someone is ignorant, foolish, or doing something wrong. I am going to tell them that using those exact words. No one will tell me how i should talk. Political correctness means nothing to me, just another way to controll.

Socialists tend to be people who assume that when their nightmarish society is finally built and safeguarded by secret police, they will be the leaders. Seldom do they imagine themselves working in sweatshop factories or in farm fields, unable to change professions or fight for better working conditions or pay, or take control of their lives in any other way. Such a mindset isn't very 'socialist'. In fact, it's elitist. For example, the Cintons love Blacks, alright, as long as they -- the Clintons -- are the politicians who lead them.

Most liberals love blacks until the blacks are on the same level economically, educationally, or in terms of wielding political power. Then many liberals are disenchanted with the whole idea and develop an intense hatred for blacks. This pattern is repeated with other "disadvantaged" groups they choose to "help."

Man, that's definitely true. I've known many Democrats who attack Condoleeza Rice on racial grounds, completely betraying their age-old fight for equality. Hypocrites!
