@trappedbyparties,
I am very young at heart and do that to make fun of some of my contemporaries who have put one foot in the grave by giving up because they are past 60. Age makes little difference to me , except that I do have some medical problems , just like many older guys , but refuse to let them get me down. I discovered the internet at the age of 55 , and am a junkie now.

@trappedbyparties,
I commend you on your well roundedness. It is a compliment, as i would of figured it being a person much older but none the less wiser.

@trappedbyparties,
I was surprised that markx15 was the same age. Definitely always struck me as much older.

Of course, now you can all have fun treating me condescendingly whenever you get into a debate with me. I can't count how many times I've heard stuff like "you're young, your views will change as you get older" here and other places.

@trappedbyparties,
Our views probably will change, but not into what most people think. It is nice to see that our generation is getting quite involved in politics, religion, and life to be more general. BTW I had you at much older aswell.

yeah, this damn thing can be very addicting. There is no reason for anyone to "give up". The job of elders is to inform and teach. Wether it be fixing a car, polotics, or just talking about the good old days when dirt was new...lol! There will always be a deep respect for elders in my heart and mind. That's probably just the southern boy in me tho. The best conversations i have had in my life were with older men and women. You have been through and seen alot more than i have. In my opinion Elders play a large part in society. If not just to tell us younger folks the experiances you've been through. I love to hear stories from older gentlemen. especialy old war stories. you get a better idea of how history really played out.

I agree.

It seems there's a gap in this generation, either apathy when it comes to these things or a lot more interest than could be found in earlier generations at a young age.

That is what drove me to look for debate over the internet, you see I define myself as more than a soccer team.

BTW, years ago, I spent five months in Paraguay, trying to complicate the life of a drug-lord named Vanderlais. He lived and operated in Ciudad del Este, until Paraguayan police cracked down on him. He would then escape across the border into Brazil. Very, very interesting place.

@Curmudgeon,
49, white, married 27 years, mixed marriage, 5 children, four grandchildren (so far), had homes in the Republic of the Philippines; East Anglia, UK; Iceland; Alaska, Virgina, and New Mexico. Traveled on long and short trips to Japan; South Korea; Canada (drove the Alaskan highway five times); Wales (South and North); almost forgot Cornwall; Scotland; West Germany; Netherlands, Belgium; Spain; Austria; Italy; Morocco; and 43 of the 50 states. Flown low level over/through and landed in other countries (can't remember where, just know I did).

One thing to remember with youngsters (or anyone of any age) who are inteligent and talented. People are able to relate or evaluate issues based on their experience and knowledge.

Most reasonable people will come to the same conclusion given similar knowledge and experience sets with which to evaluate a given situation. An illustration of this is a classroom exercise in which a set of circumstances is presented with a set of rules to evaluate the circumstance. Most of the class will arrive at a similar result/solution. Humans are humans.

Years ago? You must have done that when you were 5.

P.S. In any given personally threatening situation with other people involved, most people will react based on their world view. However, "There are no athiests in foxholes." People whose lives are under direct threat for more than an instant, "get religion" real quick.

Drnaline, There is another forum called "Christian Forums" run by Google. The average age on that forum is around 16. There is one section of the forum divided into different age groups by decade. In the 40 - 50 age group section one woman told another, in response to an inquiry about the age of people on the overall forum, that the average age of most members was in the teens. I checked the stats on the forum and this was correct. The second woman's response was, no wonder she kept getting such screwy responses. No offense meant to you youngsters. You believe us old farts have screwy answers also.
