Iowa straw poll results
The results are in from Ames, Iowa.
1. Romney 4516 (31.5%)
2. Huckabee 2587 (18.1%)
3. Brownback 2192 (15.3%)
4. Tancredo (1961 (13.7%)
5. Paul 1305 (9.1%)
6. T. Thompson 1039 (7.3%)
7. F. Thompson 203 (1.4%)
8. Giuliani 183 (1.3%)
9. Hunter 174 (1.2%)
10 McCain 101 (1%)
11 Cox 41 (.1%)
Will anyone drop out?
VERY interesting results considering Romney bought all his votes. Mc Guiliani might as well just cut and run (lol), hell, two guys that aren't even really running for the nomination beat them. If Paul doesn't get the nod, I might be able to get behind Tancredo or Brownback, though I'd like to have seen Hunter place better.
@92b16vx,
Hunter will for sure. I new Romney was gonna win by a landslide in Iowa.

Well, when you offer to bus your supporters to and from anywehre in the state, pay their way, ticket, and fed them, of course you are going to pull more than anyone else. Romney turned what was a good straw poll into a joke, and he should be removed from the race for it.
@92b16vx,
I think they were all capable of doing the same. I don't think anything he did was illegal. To my that would be akin to Ron Paul supporters spaming polling sites. Nothing illegal about that.

Didn't say it was illegal, but it slighted the results tremendously. Ron pauls supporters spamming online polls shows that they can get some kind of momentum going (whether it is going to be effective in the primaries who knows), and it's not like he bought them all computers.
@92b16vx,
That just goes to show we have our bias's. Don't you think spamming polls "slights the results tremendously?"

The difference is that they are "spamming" polls of their own accord, on their own time and dime, Romney paid for people to come support him in the straw polls, people that otherwise would have stayed home.
@92b16vx,
It's amusing to watch, if nothing else. I liked Romney's recent criticisms of Obama, and he seems to be a cool character on TV, but, as I've whined about before,
AIN'T GONNA WIN.
@92b16vx,
well, tommy thompson is out as of last night. he dropped out.
i'm just glad to see mccain and guli at the bottom

Why don't you like Julie Annie?
@92b16vx,
because i'm an hour drive from NYC..... he's a chooch
@92b16vx,
Is it like the Kirac scandal, whereby most of us thought the guy was okay, when everybody in NYC hated him and had all kinds of dirty chit on him? NYC is a world unto itself, isn't it? Never been there.

Only after proding by the main site? Asking them to vote on something they would have probably not voted on?

Paid as in got a check? So difference aside don't you think that spamming polls "slights the results tremendously?"

I have NEVER seen a link to a poll, and a call to vote in it on Ron Pauls site, other than things like the straw poll, actual physical polls. Prodding for support is not the same as calling supporters to spam polls to get favorable results. Mit Romney out and out paid approximately $500 per vote between entertainment, and paying peoples tickets, and transportation to the event.
@92b16vx,
So he didn't actually give them money to go?
Quote:other than things like the straw poll
Yeah that what i was referring too. It was a straw poll for numbers usa or something like that.

If I told you I would give you a free bus ticket, free food, pay your way in, and for your ticket, and provide you entertainment, would I be paying you to go? Did he slip them all an extra $50, probably not, did he finacially support their attendance, yes 100%.

Technically no. I think that would follow any applicable laws as well. That and the rest were totally capable of doing the same. I see no foul IMO.

if he was such a good mayor, why didn't he get re-elected?
