@sectionOne,
Sword of God - it is apparent that you look at concepts in black and white and that you take words at the most simplistic manner. I guess that is what happens when you are a brainwashed believer - one who does not think past the black and white.

What Jesus meant was that he did not bring Peace because he understood that the Word of the Lord would bring division between believers and non-believers

You should learn to think in CONTEXT. Did you read the passages before and after the one that you quote in isolation?

Reference: Bible Commentary: Matthew 10:34 - Jesus and the Sword
The first important observation is to recognize that Jesus does not speak about "the sword", but about "a sword". Jesus is not a prophet of the sword. The sword of violence, force and war has no place in his message. What kind of sword is he talking about?

The above passage speaks about the consequence of being obedient to the command of Jesus that we are to preach his message. Some will listen and accept it but many will reject it and react violently.

We will be hated for the message of repentance that we have to bring. We will be hated because we call people from evil to light and because this message exposes their evil deeds.

For many it will mean that even our own family will turn against us.

What kind of sword? It is the sword of division that God's word brings. It is the division of truth from error, and the reaction of the darkness against the light. The sword that Jesus brings, is the sword that his followers have to suffer, a sword that is applied to them, not a sword that they wield against others.

And exactly that happens in many countries. The fellowship of believers, while full of peace, incurs the wrath of the nonbelievers. Christians are gathering peacefully, yet are persecuted.

@sectionOne,
For Sword of God - this is the true message of Jesus

Reference: Christianity and War, the Gospel of Peace, Jesus changed Warfare, the Pope, No War for a Christian.

For Christians: No War:
Many Christians talk about a "Just War", but the Gospel of Jesus is the Gospel of Peace, there is no way in the New Testament to justify any bloody War... it is difficult to justify even the just, defensive war if one takes seriously the message of the Sermon on the Mount, which is the heart of the Gospel (Mat.5:28-42).

Jesus changed the whole attitude on warfare:
For a Christian, the answer to any war will be to "turn the other cheek"...To Peter, and to you and me,

However, indeed there have been hundreds of wars made by Christians against Christians and against non-Christians... I am sure you are thinking about Ireland, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Crusades... the wars of France, Italy, Spain, Germany, England, USA... all Christian countries, and dozens more... and that's all wrong for Christians, even if it has been done for centuries!.

Actually, things are changing, even the Pope John Paul II is a pacifist at heart, an activist against war... with 137 documents against war just in the 3 months before the war of Iraq (January to March, 2003)... before the war, the Pope sent a cardinal to Washington to plead with President Bush not to attack, and another cardinal to Baghdad to press Saddam Hussein to cooperate completely with U.N. weapons inspectors.
This proves how shallow your understanding of Christ's message is.

Sadly we are just humans and we find it hard to live up to His teachings.

@sectionOne,
Sword - can you show me one place where Jesus held a sword?
Show me one place where Jesus told his followers to use the sword?

Then think of how often Muhammad used the sword.

@SWORD of GOD,
I think he means his sword is just like Jesus's sword, the sword of peaceful understanding. He wants to "unmask the pharisees", and that causes violent reactions.

@sectionOne,
Sword - you ask a question and then when someone answers you then you jump to something else which is not related.

What is your goal here?
What are you trying to accomplish?

If you goal is to further make us believe that Muslims are nutcases then you are succeeding.

As for your answer - which I have given you many times already YES - Jesus is and aspect of God.

Sword - tell us what your daddy believes.

@sectionOne,
I told you that I do not believe in the OT.

The OT is basically the work of Jewish Rabbis.
The word of Jesus supersedes the works of the Rabbis.

Technically the OT though is the basis of YOUR religion as well.

Then you don't believe that Jesus inspired the OT. That means, Jesus was not the God of Moses. Because if you really believe Jesus then you must obey the laws of the OT as stated in your bible:

"Do not think that I (Jesus) have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)".

Without the OT, the christians have no LAWS.

@sectionOne,
I do not doubt that God spoke to Abraham and Moses but I do not believe in the Book called the OT. The Book was written by men.

Do you understand? I know that this might take more intellectual capability than you might be capable of.

Sword - THANK YOU.
If I am the ignorant one then good.
Better than being the HATEFUL 13 year old.

Is there any chance the mods can tell us what part of the world the IP for Sword comes from? Is he from US or from somewhere else?

the modern churches:

no head coverings for women
women allowed to speak in church
the belief that slavery is unequivocally wrong
refusing to turn the other cheek by supporting wars

All things that go against the new testament (specifically Corinthians and the Sermon), yet that is the status quo. Although the Church leaders will tell you they're doing the right thing (and they are!), however it is against the Bibles teachings.

The Pharisees also taught their people not to stone their children (and they were right, you shouldn't) and Jesus was HIGHLY critical of this, it was documented in two gospels. He called them Hypocrites and said "see how they put away the word of god to follow the teachings of men (paraphrase)"

Modern Churches are filled with leaders who teach a Church Christanity, rather then solely a Bible Christianity, this is the mirror image of the pharisees in modern times

Funny how Sword does not answer questions but just throws more of his pre-prepared content as if quantity of poor content will overcome quality content.

Yeah, i guess the smart thing to do would be put us on your ignore list. For how else would you explain your man made book with which you follow your blind faith? I can see how you would ignore anyone wanting an answer to this? You gonna put anyone that asks on ignore? Hell, if thats all it takes to shut you up, i call on everyone visiting this thread to ask you that question?
