Well, I went to
Roger Ebert's Greatest Films website and looked for films titles that looked like they could be "off the beaten path." Then I confirmed my hunch by checking the "Detour" listing on IMDb, where I found Ann
Savage (i.e. undomesticated) as one of the leads. "Bingo," sez I, "that's gotta' be it!"
I don't know if that qualifies me as a Hercule Poirot -- I'm usually more of an Inspector Clouseau when it comes to tracking down clues.
And, btw, I'd never even heard of this film before, but now I'll be on the lookout for it when I'm in the mood to rent a film noir. Thanks,
