@mousy,
As an older woman that has lived mostly in the US and a few years in Canada I guess I just have never felt like I was discriminated against.
I raised my kids and enjoyed doing so while hubby worked hard to bring home the bacon - which I cooked. We were a "family" raising our children. We did without a few luxuries because of my choice to stay home but during that time I learned skills that I used to start my own business - sewing and decorating. I started a very successful business in custom drapery and interior design that I ran for 13 years. I imported fabric from Europe, dealt with large corporations, etc. and never felt that because I was a woman that I was treated differently.
Now, I work in a competitive business surrounded by men and they treat me with the respect that they would anyone else.
Women who want to hold the priesthood? Why? Responsibility comes with that calling. I would rather be on the other end of the spectrum - procreation - something a man cannot do!
I vote, voice my opinion, own property, and pretty much do my own thing.
As far as looks - yes, a woman who looks fabulous might get her foot in the door quicker, but will also get the boot if she doesn't measure up.
Almost any woman can look nice with effort. It's not all about having the best body - it's about being clean, well groomed and intelligent.
If a man is shallow enough to just be interested in a woman because of her looks then he isn't worth your attention, is he?
I have a gorgeous daughter and she dated some pretty homely guys. When asked about it she said that she never paid attention to looks but the person inside, and besides looks fade quickly. This came from dating guys that wanted that trophy on his arm and forgot that he too had to give something more to the relationship.
Besides ladies, don't you like to look at the guys who are ripped? I really think it goes both ways!
