We were losing now we are winning - Bush

It isn't about counter-insurgency, it is 100% about Iraq taking control of it's own country. The problem is we don't really want Iraq to take control of it's own country, that is a lie. We want who WE want to be in control of Iraq, meaning no one that is friendly to those that do not like us. Unfortunately the fatal flaw is, the longer we are there, the more people that do not like us. We would garner much favor in the world if we let Iraq take control of Iraq.

Especially since we don't even have a goal to 'work' towards.

I quantify working by incresed tempo in social/economic reconstruction while violence declines. Both are quantifiable measured successes, the numbers behind the increase in Iraqs economy, and the decrease in violence are exactly that, NUMBERS. They cannot be spun, they are what they are, and the Surge is working



The stated goal we are working towards is a stable Iraqi government protected by a stable Iraqi security force which can protect itself with only a support role from American soldiers... Bush has only said this in every speech about Iraq since the surge began... apparently you aren't exactly ip do date on current events are you?

Shi'ites and Sunnis may not like each other, but they are feircely loyal to their country BEFORE their sects. The idea that Iran, or some other rogue terrorist group is just going to waltz in an take over if we leave is an absurd fairy tale of the war/fearmongers as another excuse to stay there indefinitely.
