NRA to Fight Obama Over Gun Rights Flip-Flops

Newsmax.com – NRA to Fight Obama Over Gun Rights Flip-Flops

Predicting that Barack Obama “would be the most anti-gun president in American history,” the National Rifle Association has announced plans to spend $15 million to help defeat the Democratic presidential hopeful.

Obama has said he has “no intention of taking away folks’ guns” and that he believes strongly in the Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms. But his apparent support for strict handgun bans in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere worries gun advocacy groups such as the NRA.

Obama’s mixed messages on the issue surfaced in June, when he expressed qualified agreement with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that Second Amendment rights belong not only to government-controlled militias but also to individual Americans.

“I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms,” Obama said of the ruling. “But I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures. The Supreme Court has now endorsed that view.”

The ruling, in the case of District of Columbia vs. Heller, struck down a restrictive gun control law in the nation’s capital. Four months before the court case, however, Obama expressed support for those restrictions on handgun ownership in the capital.

“You support the D.C. handgun ban, and you’ve said that it’s constitutional?” interviewer Leon Harris asked Obama during a Feb. 12 interview on ABC’s affiliate in Washington.

“Right, right,” replied the Illinois senator, nodding his head.

LOL, Obama Campaigns as Chicago Murder Rate Soars - Associated Content

Quote:
A recent article found on chicagotribune.com and written by Angela Rozas detailed an astonishing murder rate that is occurring under Barack Obama's Senate leadership, in his hometown of Chicago. "Shootings also rose, a fact Weis said was due in part to gang conflicts in two districts that resulted in 19 shootings on just one Friday night in April," stated the article, quoting Police Supt. Jody Weis. In April there were an astounding forty-seven murders.

During the first four months of 2008, 134 murders were committed in Chicago. In comparison, according to icasualties.com, a total of 160 Americans were killed in all of Iraq during the same period.

Barack Obama is running a campaign based upon the need for change, and there is nowhere in our country that needs change more than the area he already represents as a current Untied States Senator. The murder rate in Chicago is consistently one of the highest in the nation.
It just gets better and better, we have a liar on our hands?

But Factcheck.org said, “Actually, Obama’s writing was on the 1996 document.” Factcheck.org, of the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg Public Policy Center, described his statement as misleading. A margin note on the questionnaire in Obama’s handwriting indicated his approval. The journal Politico also confirmed that Obama had verbally verified his views with members of the liberal group that gave this questionnaire to state candidates.

“Barack Obama ain’t taking my shotguns,” Biden told the crowd. “If he tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem.” None of the firearms-ignorant reporters asked Biden why, as a longtime Democratic ally of organized labor, he bought and was promoting a shotgun made in Italy, like all Beretta over-and-unders, rather than in the U.S.A., by American craftsmen.

@Drnaline,
Wanna see something REALLY cool?

Blacksville #2 Mine Idle After 440 Workers Stay Home - WBOY.com

BLACKSVILLE -- Coal production at a mine in Monongalia County came to a halt today when every union miner stayed home, as part of a political protest.

It was an idle day Monday at the Blacksville #2 Mine.

More than 440 workers who are members of the United Mine Workers of America took what's called a Memorial Day instead of going to work.

Union officials say they took the day to protest after a film crew from the National Rifle Assocation showed up at the Consol mine last week to interview union workers.

They say the crew tried to get union coal miners to speak out against Barak Obama.

The UMWA has endorsed the democratic presidential nominee.

"This was a surprise visit," explained VP Local 1702, Safety Chairman Eric Greathouse, "and a lot of the miners felt this was a direct slap in the face of the union because they were trying to coerce our people into saying things against Barck Obama."

"Consol doesn't let anybody on their property - never," said Safety Committee Member Mark Dorsey, "And for them to let the NRA come on the property and solicit our membership was totally uncalled for. We made our endorsement to our political process and we didn't bother them and they shouldn't be harassing our membership over this."

Congratulations, you just pissed off the unions.

@Drnaline,
Wow, the union didn't allow them to work that day. I'm sure they thought if they were allowed to work that day the NRA would get some dirt. "Union officials say " why can't they speak for themselves?
"and a lot of the miners felt this was a direct slap in the face of the union because they were trying to coerce our people into saying things against Barck Obama."
How many is "alot"? 440 or five or six?

Sounds like they think those men are there property, the company let them in, who is the union to keep "our" members from exercising there right to free speech?

Yeah, you boys don't need to speak! We speak for you! Well if they held them from work, we know the union was running scared, what do we do, what do we do? We order "our" guys to stay home that day, just to be on the safe side!

"Your" members can exercise their free speech all they want... to an empty mine. They exercised their right to not listen. They can do that, you know.

If they had an issue or felt differently, they would have stuck around, now wouldn't they?

The NRA tried to peddle their lies. The union workers didn't want anything to do with it. They made a rather solid statement. Guaranteed it won't happen again.

Sorry things don't always work out your way.

@Drnaline,
That's sweet and all, lovey-dovey unions, and liberals are milk and cookies, but it is only deflection the issue is that Obama is anti-gun, his record, and actions have reflected it for years...oh yea, that's why you are deflecting because there is no reall argument that he isn't anti-gun.

Awww, don't believe the sites when they are against your beliefs, huh? How about when they defend them?

PolitiFact | Ad distorts McCain's record on Violence Against Women Act

Oh, look at that... they defend McCain too! But I am quite certain you'll drop all to support this while knocking down anything that you don't like.

You know what that's called? Subjective.

Then step up to the plate and show me where the site that I posted (politifact.com) is subjective and distorts the facts. C'mon, you can do it, unless you're just blowing hot air our of your backside.

These guys will address all claims, regardless of political affiliation. That's why they posted the facts about ads and claims distorting McCain and Palin's stances as well... unless those are just false claims as well.

You're attacking a non-partisan site.

I have already p[osted more than enough for you to research Husseins record, which is 100% anti-gun other than his campaign hyperbole pretending to believe in the Constitution.

So what you're saying is that, should he get in office, all your guns are gone?

:rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh:

Grandstanding. Overreacting. ZOMGSTOPTHEEVILMAN!!!!!

You're as funny as the "liberals" who say that Palin's gonna nuke everybody if Mickey dies. Always with the end-of-the-world overreactions.

Get real. Your guns aren't going away. Other bits of the Constitution are already GONE, and you do nothing. Nice to see exactly what you stand (up) for.

They couldn't stop the rest of the Constitution from being stomped, why should I be concerned that they'd stand up now?

Oh yeah, that's right... don't mess with a person's god.
