Now Rudy Guliani has begun the process for a run at the White House for 2008 . He has filed the necessary paperwork to start a feeling-out campaign and will probably get a lot of support .

@Curmudgeon,
I don't think there will be much opposition out there. Depends on what goes on between now and then.

I don't think so. I think abortion will never become legal/illegal on the federal level. I believe that will be something left up to the states and voted on by the people.

@Brent cv,
Pro-choice is just one of his problems. He's not exactly an outstanding family man.

@Curmudgeon,
I really don't know. It depends on what choices Repubs have.. him or McCain. Who knows who will decide to run between now and then. I'd prefer somebody else entirely but unless Ronald Reagan can resurrect from the dead I'd take Rudy I think.

This is true and will no doubt be brought out come election time by the opposition.

@Brent cv,
If the opposition wants to discuss what makes a candidate "not exactly a good family man " , I hope they don't overlook some of their own people .

In elections, nothing is overlooked. I thought moral values was a Republican theme.

@tumbleweed cv,
"In elections, nothing is overlooked." - Not true ! If it were , maybe Kennedy would never get re-elected , as well as others in the Democrat party . I do not deceive myself that all Republicans adhere to high moral standards . I don't think those who are not morally grounded should hold office , whichever side they are on .

@Curmudgeon,
I'm not going to defend the Democratic party but I do know that Guliani has a lot of baggage that won't play out well on the national stage.

His extra-maritial affair could be his downfall. Does anybody think the liberal press will pass on that one?

His health might be a factor.

He wasn't exactly a national hero to everyone in New York City, where people knew him.

He has even been know to flip-flop.Very Happy

I think moral values is an American/World theme, sometimes it just seems certain people pay attention to it.
