Otters make their nests in trees,
Seals fly in the autumn breeze,
The walrus reads a learned tome
The whale is handy round the home.

Here are my original 4 extra animals:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I dreamt I was a scaly ichthyosaur
With barnacles fixed clingingly on wings
A pepsis wasp snickered - then was no more.
Cochliomyia hominivorax stings.
(bastard)

bustard
scops owl
dung beetle
sarcoptes scabiei

The bustard checks the greyhounds speed
The scops owl calls out "Oy, take heed!"
The dung beetle stops and says "Oh my!"
Sarcoptes tends his scabiei.

wooly mammoth
dungeness crab
ibex
galeanthropic

No, cavfancier, I do NOT believe there is an animal called galeanthropic. Obviously galea is a helmet and anthrop- is man, but this is an adjective, and what is more, it doesn not appear in my OED complete edition in 20 volumes! Love the others though.
The woolly (brit sp) mammoth pulls down trees and snorts,
The dungeness crab's unpleasant in your shorts.
An ibex is a friendly sort of deer
And if you're galeanthropic, you are QUEER.

bandicoot
herring gull
fieldmouse
pouter pigeon

Well, you would be right about queer there Clary, in the sense of 'odd'. Galeanthropy is a strange psychological condition where one believes they have become a cat, so a galeanthropic would be one suffering from such a condition (or perhaps galeanthrope is more accurate....please excuse my French). I was feeling jocular this morning, so I attempted to slip that one in. Laughing

The bandicoot is very cute,
the herring gull is fond of "wOOt".
the fieldmouse does not like slang,
the pouter pigeon favours "dang."

bluebottle fly
cicada
aphid
sparrow

Amazing facts at your fingertips, cav!

Have you ever seen a real bluebottle fly?
Did you know a cicada has but one eye?
Does an aphid spread bubonic disease?
Not a sparrow falls but the almighty sees!

hare
Persian cat
thrush
earthworm

Naturally curly, hare went at
the mean and straight-laced Persian cat.
Mrs. owner developed thrush,
the earthworm just said "What's the rush?"

carpenter ant
snuffleuppagus
tasmanian devil

Was the Death's Head Moth in "Silence of the Lambs"?
Will the carpenter ant chop off my hands?
Did you know the snuffleeuppagus is actually evil?
Eviller than the tasmanian devil??

Wood rat

Where, oh where, is the porcupine's spine?
The fawn's whitetail shows the end of the line.
Fondling a ferret requires night vision,
while a wood rat scurries to avoid elision.

Titmouse
Dormouse
Redwinged blackbird
Jackrabbit

Does a titmouse have large buzooms?
Does a dormouse let us enter rooms?
Is the redwinged blackbird a commie spy?
Does the Jackrabbit out mate any other guy?

A fiendish flying squirrel said
He would kill the black bear dead.
The bobcat yowled a sad lament
And wondered what the grizzly meant.

A girl who's a fox may act obscene
She'll covet stares from a wolverine
And lure basking sharks so they'll surround 'er
And he who hesitates shall always flounder

monarch
Douglas squirrel

Doh!

A Bengal tiger likes his stripes,
the magpie prefers different types,
a red fox is always pleasing,
a snake's the one who's always teasing.

You can't see a snow leopard on a snowy day
So if you're walking in snow, get the praying mantis to pray.
And if that horny toad is stalking your gizzard
I suggest you hire a gila lizard.

antelope
Canus lupus
Eastern chipmunk
Armadillo

"That was snow leopard, that was my mate!"
Cried the praying mantis, as she bit off his pate;
While in Arizona, the horny toad died
When his gila lizard lover fed him arsenide.

damn.

The deer and the antelope played Scrabble,
While Canis Lupus would complain and babble:
"We need more Eastern chipmunks and onion dip, y'all"
But the armadillo was holding a vegetarian ball.

Narwhal whinnied every day in his stall;
Thompson's gazelle danced among roses in Fall.
The fruit bats looked down at the roses on ground
a Wildebeest diagram was what they found.
