What is the future of Europe? As The Economist has noted, “talk of Europe’s relative decline seems to be everywhere just now….You may hear glum figures about Europe’s future weight and with some reason.

Do glum figures and future weight refer to statistics and importance of Europe in the future?

@fansy,
"Glum figures" refers to facts and statistics presented to paint a discouraging picture.

"Weight" means "importance".
