Hey Philforumers...

I've been AWOL for a few days and missed y'all joining... so.... WELCOME TO A2K...

hope you will give us a little time to get to know us - there's a lot of grand folk around here and we can all talk up a storm - or a load of tosh - we're all misfits of a sort <no offence intended A2Kers Wink>- strangely tho we kinda fit together too

I've enjoyed seeing a whole load of new folk arriving - it does stir up the pot a little bit and must be hugely frustrating for you all to get used to us and being here ... I really hope folk stick around tho - there's a great community spirit here and... a bunch of good friends.

@salima,
To me, sometimes it wasn't so bad to have threads like that, perhaps they were even labeled a little poorly. It is one thing to discuss the possibility of intelligent alien life someone else in the universe but to talk about what type of material they make their ships out of is a little silly. I see the same things going on here but it seems there's a lot of it here.

it was just so perfectly proportioned to my taste-just the right amount of all the ingredients; profound, irreverent, hilarious, sincere, innocuous, heartbreaking, oh...i am getting all bleary-eyed!

@salima,
I was just going through a couple of the more technical forums, and I found those. Here are some more mainstream threads in the philosophy section of the forum. It is almost impossible to find anything from the general discussion section of the forum. We all had some great discussions there as well.

http://able2know.org/topic/147851-1

http://able2know.org/topic/150874-1 - Seems like a good more recent discussion philforum members may be interested in about religion in an age of reason and science.

http://able2know.org/topic/150874-1 - It's funny that this discussion seems to loop over and over again.

http://able2know.org/topic/148776-1

http://able2know.org/topic/148212-1 - "The Problem of Consciousness"

http://able2know.org/topic/147298-1

http://able2know.org/topic/147827-1 - Stumbled across it, and it never took off like I thought it would.

@Reyn,
Hey Reyn - hello there! I miss yours and Edgars boys talking thread... I'm trying to catchup on A2K (ha - only been AWOL about a week and soooo much has been going on here). Just read that your lady and daughter were involved in a bump - so hoping they are less achey and feeling better. Big wave back - hugs ((Reyn)) Very Happy

@salima,
Hi Salima,

Could you give more detail on this please? I checked your profile and it says you joined the PhilForum on May 8th, 2009. I then took two minutes to click the next page link about 35 times to scroll through the list of every single one of your posts in the Recent Posts list to come to the very first one ever written by you.

Could you be more specific as to what posts of yours might be missing after the transition? Is there a date-range of posts in the middle somewhere that didn't make it? Are you looking for posts that weren't actually made in the forums but were made as comments to blogs or some other feature that hasn't yet been transferred here?

Please help me understand what it is you are looking for and cannot find so, if possible, I can help you do so.

@Butrflynet,
i cant remember what i was looking for actually-but i did go through the whole list and got some that i am very happy to find and will go back to. no reason for looking for them except to be able to illustrate what it was the threads were like, and some hopefully to resurrect. the ones i was looking for in particular i guess would be the ones i had been subscribed to when the break happened, they would be the easiest to continue.

as far as which are missing, you can see on my profile page that i have about three times more posts than what are accessible to me, and though it isnt really important i would be curious to know why that is.

i didnt do a lot of posting in groups. i dont think what we posted in other people's blogs were counted in the posts, but i am not sure about that.

when you say you came across the first one ever written by me, what do you mean? in the list of recent posts on this board or in the list of recent posts by me or something relating to my opening threads? because i rarely opened any threads on the old forum, i mainly participated in conversations that interested me. all the threads i originated there are most likely in creative writing or new member questions or questions in the self help and computer forums.

oh, NOW i get it! so the thing i wonder about is why on my profile page it says posts=1476 but when you click on 'my posts' at the top of the page you will only see 465. i assumed 'my recent posts' at the bottom of the profile page would be incomplete and contain only 'recent' posts.
